About The Role

We're seeking a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer to join a rapidly growing team and support the evolution of backend services in an AI-native environment. This role involves architecting new features and ensuring secure, high-performance systems that enhance the developer experience.

What You'll Be Doing

Partnering with Product, AI, and Operations teams to architect new features and complex systems.
Building and maintaining backend services and APIs to ensure security, testing, and high performance.
Making architectural tradeoffs that balance platform, product, and business goals.
Designing and implementing distributed services for data pipelines and incident response.
Owning operational best practices to enable frequent, confident deployments.
Setting engineering standards for writing, communication, and system design.

What We're Looking For

5-10+ years of experience in designing, building, and operating production backend systems.
Deep backend engineering skills, including API design and data modeling.
Hands-on experience with AWS/GCP and understanding of infrastructure impacts.
Practical experience with CI/CD, including testing and deployment strategies.
Solid grasp of observability and healthy on-call practices.

Nice to Have

Experience in early-stage or scaling startups.
Exposure to modern AI/ML systems.
Experience working on product without a product manager.

Compensation & Benefits

$130,000-$190,000 USD salary + competitive equity.
$100/mo wellness and commute stipend.
